Ahoy Matey: Kids Pirate Party

Ahoy Matey! A kid-friendly pirate theme party

Hello lovelies!! It's getting to be the time of year where my sister and I get the invitations out for my nephew's birthday, so I thought I would do a little throwback and show you another one of his past birthdays I never blogged about.

For our little man's fourth birthday, we went with a super easy and tres cute Pirate theme. As usual, my sister had the activities covered, so my photos are of food.  My sister had the kiddos digging up buried treasure and walking "the plank" in the sunshine. Kids got to take home their pirate loot.

At only four years old, it can be hard to say whether you have parents as well as kids to keep entertained. In my family, the ratio tends to be about five adults per kid, which sort of throws things off as far as kiddie treats are concerned. As a result, we added some pirate labels to "grown up drinks" and kept them on ice with the kids' juice.

We served mini hot dogs with sails in them, and pirate ship jello with oranges. It was a hot and beautiful spring day, and defaulting to barbecued food was the best idea we had all year. The cake was admittedly not the highlight (again! lol), but was made with fondant waves at the birthday boy's request. We stuck a gigantic ship on top to distract from the lopsidedness, but it didn't quite work.

It's hard to believe this was almost two years ago already!! It's time to get out the invitations for birthday number six.

Happy Tuesday!
